ถ้าใช้ neither วางไว้หน้าประโยค จะต้องตามด้วยกริยาช่วย ประธานและกริยาแท้ เช่น

 Neither did he listen his teacher, nor did he read the book.
เขาทั้งไม่ฟังครูและไม่อ่านหนังสือ

not only…but also แปลว่า ไม่เพียง.......แต่.......ด้วย

(ตัวอย่าง)

 Not only man, but also woman could be the prime minister.

ไม่ใช่เฉพาะแต่ผู้ชายเท่านั้น ผู้หญิงก็สามารถเป็นนายกรัฐมนตรีได้

 Not only you, but also he has not read the book yet.
ไม่เพียงแต่คุณเท่านั้น เขาก็ยังไม่ได้อ่านหนังสือเช่นเดียวกัน

 I know not only Sumalee but also her family.
ฉันไม่เพียงแต่รู้จักกับสุมาลีเท่านั้น ฉันยังรู้จักครอบครัวของเธอด้วย

ส าหรับประโยคความรวม (Compound Sentence) บางประโยคจะเชื่อมด้วยค ากริยา

วิเศษณ์ (Conjunctive Adverb) ได้แก่ however (อย่างไรก็ตาม), meanwhile (ในขณะที่),

therefore (ดังนั้น, เพราะฉะนั้น), otherwise (มิฉะนั้น), thus (ดังนั้น), hence (ด้วยเหตุนี้),

nevertheless (แม้กระนั้น), etc.

ยกตัวอย่างเช่น

 Suda comes to see me at the temple. She comes to see me at the temple,

 It begins to rain. meanwhile it begins to rain.

 Malee was ill. Malee was ill, thus she went to

 Malee went to see the doctor at a hospital. see the doctor at a hospital.
