The coastal plain on the northern coast of Alaska is a unique place. For millennia it has been the summer home for huge herds of caribou and countless migratory birds. The area supports a greater variety of plant and animal life than any other protected area in the Arctic Circle. This is the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. See the splendour, enormous scope and indescribable beauty of this untouched land far to the north of Alaska, one of the last havens for caribou herds and polar bears. Shot over a period of four years, this film offers a unique insight into the lives of the most charismatic arctic animals. Outstanding aerial photography captures the vast and epic dimensions of the annual caribou migration, revealing the many dangers the herds encounter on the way. Awe-inspiring footage shows how wolves and grizzlies strategically stalk and attack the herds.

Past the white sand beaches and beneath idyllic turquoise water lays one of the fiercest natural habitats in the world. Its picture perfect beauty draws us into a world where life and death unfold in natural and sometimes horrifying order. ‘Bahama Blue’ focuses on how this struggle plays out within the unique geographical features of the Bahamas; including mangroves, deep blue water, sand flats, coral, as well as caves and blue holes; features that both define and interact with the diverse wildlife.
Scientists have been observing animals for a long time and working to understand their behaviour. At first, binoculars, a camera and notebooks were their tools; patience, time, and keen observation skills their trademark. Now, technology has made it possible for hidden cameras, GPSes, drones and computers to be added to their arsenal making it possible to observe from far away, without disturbing the animals, and detect new behaviours. From the golden beaches of Australia and the deep jungles of Costa Rica, to the foothills of Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti Plains, this series takes you into the amazing world of animal communities. You will see the dramas that are played out, the alliances that are formed, the changes that take place and the passions that ignite. Nothing is static, everything evolves. Whether sharks, marmots, hyenas, whales or macaques, this series opens the door to a new world where the relationships between individuals define the life of the group.
