As the ice in the Arctic is melting, the orca’s world is growing – impacting the Arctic wildlife. It’s the polar bear in particular that has been affected, as it finds itself challenged for its favourite prey by the killer whales. These changes in environment have also been noticed first-hand by the local Inuit. Now land predator must meet ocean predator – polar bear meets killer whale.

The Great Plains were one of the last areas of the US to be colonised during the nineteenth century. Native American tribes ruled the land, supported by mighty herds of buffalo. Even with firearms, the settlers and US army could not compete with the power of the Native Americans, so army generals eventually decided to starve the enemy into submission. They needed to destroy their supplies, and so they waged war on the buffalo.
