 BULLSEYE PRAYERS
12:42-48. The householder in the parable was faithful in the pursuit of the interest of his guest. If he could be as dogged in seeking food for his friend, he needed to be commended. People only tend to apply themselves in the pursuit of their own interests.
We are called to be faithful servants, who routinely take to God in prayer the needs of others, committing all that is required to ensure that their needs are met. That is what this kind of prayer is all about.
‘Lend me three loaves’ is a prayer that is meant to demonstrate our faithfulness and the fruit of the Spirit that is in us, the core attribute of which is love. Thus, it is not enough to return from your prayer closet without the answer to the needs of those you have taken there. You must not be quick to leave the presence of God, accepting excuses such as the ones given to the householder by his neighbour. You must ensure that you stay true to that quest and return with the ‘loaves of bread’ plus much more. Jesus said that the householder would likely return with more than three loaves because he will receive a blank cheque from his neighbour.
Let us ensure that in carrying out this important responsibility of love, we stay faithful to its accomplishment. That is when our reward will come. We will not be rewarded for praying for the
