BULLSEYE PRAYERS
centered and self-interest driven prayers. It is the hallmark of immaturity in the faith walk.
Did you notice that when Jesus was comparing His Father to us earthly fathers that ‘bread’ and ‘fish’ are typically requested from us whereas the ‘Holy Spirit’ is requested from the Father? This shows that our heavenly Father is more interested in granting us spiritual blessings which invariably brings the required physical blessings (Luke 11:11-13).
Having taken note of the foregoing, it is important not to forget that the lessons of faithfulness and persistence in prayer remain relevant for us.
The Power of Faithfulness
By being persistent in his demand for loaves to feed to his guest, the central figure in the parable demonstrated faithfulness. This is a great attribute that we are called to cultivate as well. He was not distracted by anything and refused to accept the excuse that the doors had been locked and his neighbour’s household had gone to bed. He was sharply focused on returning to his base with what he desired in his hands.
