blessing for onward transmission to others in need. That is what the receiver of the guest did.
He went to ask for three loaves of bread from his friend or neighbour for the use of his guest. He sought and knocked at his neighbour’s house until he was granted his request. Therefore, asking, seeking and knocking, being levels reflecting the earnestness of our prayer to God are guaranteed to secure the desired results and more when our motivation is love!
If we agree that the full context of the parable is what drives home the real intended lessons from Jesus, we must also agree therefore, that our prayers are not meant to be only about ourselves but about meeting the needs of others. When we ask, seek and knock for our needs, we may not experience the kind of results that we would obtain if we were asking, seeking and knocking so that the needs of others may be met. Interestingly, our needs are guaranteed to be met when we ask, seek and knock so that the needs of others can be met.
By so doing, we ensure that the motivation behind our prayers are right. Our motivation must be love for our prayers to be given that recognition and speedy response from the Lord. Enough of self-
