body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
The scriptures tell us that spiritual leaders are given by God to the body of Christ, that is to other believers, to ensure that they grow to become perfect in Christ, and to be empowered with spiritual strength to escape the deceitful and other pressures of the world.
One of the ways that we all, as spiritual leaders at one level or the other, and at one time or the other, will carry out our responsibility largely through the offering of continual prayers for the church of God, asking that God would ensure that none of our people are lost to the world.
Paul showed that this was a responsibility that he seriously committed himself to when he declared that he had “little children” in respect of whom he was travailing in prayer so that Christ would be formed in them.
