The Man In Love
“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
John 10:17-18
Jesus received the command of His Father to give His life for His church and committed Himself to obey it with joy and gladness (John 3:16). This gesture of willful obedience and selflessness represents a most compelling demonstration of love for the Father, on the one hand, and for us, on the other hand. Jesus said that to lay down one’s life is the greatest act of love that any man can show toward His friends (John 15:13). This is an example for husbands. They must be willing to lay down their lives for their wives. Husbands must be willing to give up their comfort just for the benefit of their wives. Whatever sacrifice is required for the blessing of their wives represents an opportunity to show love toward her.
