No defilement must be allowed if we desire that The Lord be our God and that our wives ‘receive us.” We are certain to alienate ourselves from our wives when we get ourselves mixed up with defilement in any form. Sexual defilement is often the most afflicting of men, and many fall as a result. Other sources of defilement include malice, deceit, envy, hypocrisy as revealed in 1 Peter 2:1-5,
Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:1-5
It takes holy priests to offer sacrifices that are acceptable to God according to that scripture. And we are those priests in Christ Jesus who must pursue holiness so that our sacrifices can be acceptable. In this case, we refer to our gesture of sacrifices both to God and to our wives.
