The Man In Love
Psalm 89:20-29
The blessings enumerated in Psalm 89 are so many that we just reproduced a portion here for our appreciation. All came on the platform of David’s love for God. David expressed this phenomenon variously in his rendition in the Psalms. In Psalm 91, he also made very instructive reference to what we can expect to enjoy out of love for God based on his own experience. Verses 14- 16 are compelling:
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
Psalm 91:14-16
The scripture says the “because he has set his love upon Me.” Love was therefore the reason for God’s commitment to all the blessings assured. In Psalm 119:127, David said he loved God’s commandments more than fine gold. He understood that love for God would get him the fine gold and much more, especially blessings that money cannot buy. It is the same message that is expressed in Job 22:21-30.
