JITLADA LA TRAVEL & EATS
Jazz and her brother bought the restaurant in 2007. It was
already serving good Thai
food, but Chef Tui elevated it to a whole different level when
they decided to incorporate foods
that they grew up eating every day, that you will not find in
many other Thai restaurants in LA.
This is one of the things that sets Jitlada apart. If you are
dialed into the LA food scene at all you will have noticed
that the trend is to go hyper-regional especially with Thai as
done by Night
+ Market and the recently closed Pok Pok. You can now find
Northern Thai and Southern Thai.
Well at Jitlada they have been doing this for over 10 years
now. This was important to then Chef
Tui and Jazz. They did not just want to be another Thai
restaurant, they wanted to show people
the other amazing food that everyday Thai’s eat that might
also be considered adventurous for
some people. They are also known for their spicy food and in
fact, have a spicy food challenge
(not for the faint of heart) that has sent a handful of people
to the hospital.
Any night you go, you can see Jazz working the floor, taking
orders and cleaning tables.
She is the heart and soul of Jitlada and is the most friendly
person you will ever meet. Jitlada
will be getting a good chunk of my dining budget going
forward and should be on anyone's radar
as well! When you do go, make sure you tell Jazz that Thank
God I’m a Foodie sent you.
