Hits, bops, bangers: they’re all the same, they’re
formulaic which is why they have a consistent
sound. The significant difference comes from the
people that are singing, performing, or creating
those tracks. Recently, Galaxy One Entertainment
set out to add diversity to the music scene,
                                                       specifically Chinese and Chinese-American artists.
As a talent group, that thrives on its young
dancers and singers, Galaxy One Entertainment
takes the idea of making music that attracts the
                                                       mainstream audience while introducing different
elements of style, culture, and musicianship.
Representation and diversity is not only important for the audience, it is necessary for the
growth of crafts like music, dancing, producing, and other artistic endeavours. Galaxy
One Entertainment combines staff with knowledge of the American market and young
boys and girls who are eager to share their culture.

There are currently two music videos that highlight the wide variety that can come from
this type of venture. Galaxy One Entertainment has successfully combined their talent in
two different groups: Color Comet and Teentastic. Color Comet created a music video for
their song “Color” which is aimed at a younger audience but also shares a theme of
recognizing personal identity and worth. Teentastic did the same for their song “Gimme
Dat Break,” but as the ages in their group were a little older, there was a stronger focus
on pop music and dance culture. Still, they were able to incorporate traditional Chinese
instruments and style which shows people that there are untapped possibilities that
come from the blend of ideas between cultures and international markets.

Even though the major audience will focus on younger groups, Galaxy One Entertainment
creates a model that other producers or talent agencies can follow. Music is something
that follows a formula and there is a common style that people will be consistently
attracted to which makes it more important for artists and producers to find new
combinations and rhythmic blends. Diversity in music has become more important
because it represents the idea that people are realising that there needs to be growth
and a fresh sound. Galaxy One Entertainment shows that it doesn’t take much to create
new paths in music and they remind us all that culture is part of the attraction to the
       genre.
