WAYS TO GROW THE GREEN
THIS SPRING
April is finally here and your garden soil is finally warming up! April is the
best time to plant most of your vegetable seeds after your last frost. It's still
not too late to plant green that made our must have list this spring.
Cabbage
Cabbage is one of the easier plants to grow in
the garden. Select a variety that is right for
your location (size and maturity length). Be
sure to fertilize and water when cabbage head
begins to form.
Basil
When growing basil outdoors, it is very
important to remember that basil is very
sensitive to cold and even a light frost will kill it.
Do not plant seeds or basil plants until all danger
of frost has passed.
Cilantro
Cilantro is easy to grow from seed in low, wide
bowls; you just snip off outer leaves when plant
reach about 8 inches tall. Plants need light shade
in hottest climates.
Cucumber
Cucumbers need warm, fertile soil with a pH of
6.0 to 6.8, although they will tolerate a bit more
alkaline soil to 7.
