Transformed curricula and new Academic Programmes for the 21st century
he University of Namibia has successfully transformed all their undergraduate programmes in response to
the needs of the 4th and 5th Industrial Revolutions. These programmes were implemented in 2023, and
Twe are looking forward to the second intake of students into our broad range of relevant programmes.
UNAM prides itself in that all implemented transformed and new programmes are duly accredited by NCHE.
The transformed programmes cover a large variety of disciplines – from agriculture, engineering, natural
sciences, commerce, management, law, education and human sciences to health sciences and veterinary
medicine. It includes our flagship programmes endorsed by the relevant professional bodies such as Medicine,
Pharmacy, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Engineering,
Law, Chartered Accountancy and others.
Not only were our programmes designed to meet the needs of the market and industry, but these are also
aligned to national priorities and global development plans as reflected in the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs). As part of each programme, a range of modules address core competencies and skills
development in areas such as ethics and ethical leadership, entrepreneurship, environmental awareness
and sustainability, national and global citizenship, project management and others. In addition, cooperative
work integrated education forms a compulsory part of each programme. As such, the new and transformed
programmes aim to produce cognitively transformed, futureready graduates with the necessary knowledge,
competencies and skills to enhance employability.
While UNAM has retained the integrated four year Honours at NQF level 8 in a number of undergraduate
degree programmes, it also developed a large number of three year Bachelor Degrees at NQF level 7.
The latter will be supplemented by a variety of standalone one year Honours programmes to provide more
specialized knowledge and skills in particular areas. This provides the prospective student with more flexible,
personalised learning pathways as demanded by the current trends in Higher Education.
Please consult our complete list of programmes on offer and come and join us to be transformed, equipped
and empowered to take your rightful place in the world of work!
