Vice Chancellor’s
CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO 2022 GRADUATES
Dear Graduates,
Congratulations! I am humbled by your perseverance
and commitment towards the attainment of
knowledge, skills and personal growth.
Despite a devastating 2020 which disrupted all areas of
life, all of you have prevailed. Some glimmers of hope
appeared during 2021, but were just as quickly stolen
by new variants of the pandemic. I, therefore, cannot
be more proud of each and every one of you for this
glorious accomplishment in the face of adversity.
Life is a tough teacher - she gives you the test first, and
then the lesson afterwards. Given the storms of difficulty
most of you have endured, my only comfort is that you
can probably now face any challenge that life will throw at you as you venture
out into the world.
So go out there and be agents of change, be agents of hope and be agents of
knowledge in the pursuit of understanding, enlightenment and all that is good.
Resist the temptation to demand respect, rather earn it through your work and
through your actions - but be quick to offer your respect to those from whom you
stand to gain nothing. Offer your silence and your ear more than your voice, and
see your wisdom grow exponentially.
No matter how far this new journey takes you, never forget your humble beginnings,
remember us, remember your friends - for they will remember you, no matter where
you may find yourself. Know this: your alma mater, UNAM, will always remain open
to you. So take the test, keep learning the lessons - the quest for knowledge never
truly ends!
Congratulations once again!
