INNOVATION INCUBATION

The Chancellor’s Innovation Fund (CIF) was launched in April 2021 by H.E. Dr
Nangolo Mbumba, Vice President of the Republic of Namibia and Chancellor
of the University of Namibia. The launch paved way for the first innovation
call which was issued by UNAM in collaboration with Telecom Namibia. The
call attracted both students and staff with interdisciplinary skills who worked
on the following projects: Oshnae Products, Sky Foods, Namibia EduQuiz,
Univserity Online Registration System, Health Information System.

APPLICATIONS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

IN AGRITECH UNDER GOOGLE FUND

The Google grant focusses the application of AI in solving challenges facing
farmers in the agriculture sector. IDA is incubating three teams of students
working on the applications of AI agriculture to AI solutions i.e incubating
eggs controlled by AI application; creating robots controlled by AI to detect
pest disease on crops and other AI applications in the agricultural sector.
