Jack became interested in polo and took on learning to ride and play the sport at the same time. He spent two summers learning the game in Virginia. He continues to play with Cindy Halle during the winter, and his skills have been sharpened with experience. Jack lives in Mechanicsburg, PA.
David Silvestre 2T/1
David’s career in polo began in Mexico City where, as a teenager, he trained young horses for polo’s famous Gracida family. He went on to train for and play with several other top players in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. An excellent horseman and player, David is currently rated 2 goals and plays with PJ and Sara Orthwein while also managing their horse operations.
Samira Waernlund -1/0/2/3
Samira Waernlund began her polo career at Texas Tech University. She played on the team for 4 years and was named team captain her senior year. After graduation, Samira went on to coach the SMU women’s polo team for a short while before accepting a job in Boston. After a year hiatus from polo she moved to Aiken, South Carolina with Will Tankard where she managed their string of horses and they started young horses together. After Will’s death in 2015, Samira took a break from polo before returning in the winter of 2016. She worked for former 10-goal player Adam Snow for 2 years, managing his string of horses and assisting in starting the green ones. In 2018 she settled in Maryland and now works for McCormick Spices on the Global Strategy Team.
Brennan Wells 1/5
Brennan started playing polo at age six with his sister Marissa at Marlan Farm, where polo is taught year round. By nine he was playing in arena tournaments and now plays interscholastic polo. He captained his boys team, Maryland Polo, coached by his mother Kelly Wells, to win the Open National Intershcolastic Championship in 2017 and 2018! Brennan competes in the summer in the NYTS tournaments. Brennan attends The University of Virginia and plays intercollegiate polo.
