 Kelly Wells 1/2/5/7
Kelly grew up in a polo family in upstate New York and played on Cornell University’s polo team that won the National Women’s Intercollegiate Championship in 1991. She was honored as an All-American player in her junior and senior years. She has coached girls’ high school polo for twenty years, first at Garrison Forest School and currently at Marlan Farm in Freeland, Md. She coaches the Maryland Open and Maryland Girls Interscholastic teams. Over her career she has coached twelve Women’s Interscholastic National Championship teams, including the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018and 2019 champions. Kelly teaches polo year round at her polo school and enjoys playing in the summer with her children, Marissa and Brennan.
Marissa Wells 1/4/5/9
Marissa grew up at Marlan Farm surrounded by polo and polo ponies. She began playing polo at age eight and by fifth grade she played in her first interscholastic tournament. Since that first tournament she represented Maryland Polo at the Women's Interscholastic Nationals for the next seven years. She was captain and led her team to the finals all four years of high school winning three national titles. In 2014 Marissa was named "PTF Female Interscholastic Player of the Year". In 2013, 2014, 2015 she was chosen to play on the Zone 4 All-Star USPA NYTS team. In 2015 Zone 4 won! She led the Women's Intercollegiate Texas A & M team to a National win this year, and is a member of Team USPA.
Trevor Wells 3
Trevor Wells, a native of Sykesville, learned to play polo at Maryland Polo Club while in high school, and went on to play at Cornell. He was a three-time All- American and was twice named PTF “Player of the Year”. Trevor has been a coach of the successful Baltimore Boys Interscholastic Polo team and enjoys foxhunting with the Mt. Carmel Hounds Hunt, where he is a whip. A veterinarian, Trevor has a mobile veterinary practice, specializing in companion animals.
Tammy Wiggs
A lifelong equestrian, Tammy spends most of her time in the saddle as an avid adult amateur show hunter rider. At the encouragement of her childhood friend, Katherine Pinkard, and alongside her eldest daughter, Tammy began playing polo in 2020 with Kelly Wells and enjoys diversifying her equestrian pursuits. Tammy lives in Ruxton, Maryland with her husband, Justin, and their three daughters, who are all young riders. She is taking on a new role at work as the Head of Equity Trading for T. Rowe Price Investment Management, and is an active volunteer in the Maryland community.
