Many items are lost and found during the school year. We strongly encourage students to be responsible
by taking care to secure their personal items to avoid losses. Unclaimed student items will be donated to
local charities. The Lawson Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is organized parent engagement activity that is developed to maintain a
positive communication with parents and The Lawson Academy staff. The PTO/Parent Engagement meets on
the third Thursday of each month.

Student Supplies

A school supply list has been provided to all parents. Students are required to enter each classroom ready to
learn. Please make sure that your child comes to school with the following materials daily:
• Interactive Notebook
• Notebook paper
• Pens and pencils

All consumable school supplies should be replenished by parents/guardians on a regular basis.

Wellness Policy
Mission Statement: The mission of The Lawson Academy is to promote a healthy lifestyle for students, parents
and staff which will lead to lifelong maintenance of healthy habits. This mission will be accomplished by the
development and implementation of our district wellness policy which will incorporate nutrition education and
standards, physical activity and any other school related activities.

Nutrition Education Goals: The Lawson Academy will educate, encourage and support healthy eating by all
students of all ages and will comply with the current USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The Lawson
Academy is committed to using nutritious, freshly prepared meals served with real ingredients and none of the
bad stuff. We're committed to nourishing students with healthy and affordable breakfast, lunch, and snacks that
provide students the brainpower they need to excel through their day. Because they deserve better than junk.

Physical Education Goals: The Lawson Academy will provide opportunities for students to maintain physical
fitness and will adopt or exceed the state standards for physical activity. The Lawson Academy will create a
total school environment that is conducive to being physically active and will provide opportunities for students
to regularly participate in physical activity and maintain physical fitness.

Honor Code

In accordance with the mission of the school, The Lawson Academy students will not participate in dishonesty,
cheating, stealing, bullying or harassing.

The Lawson Academy students will conclude an orientation annually by promising, in writing, to uphold the
Honor Code:

I pledge to uphold The Lawson Academy Honor Code in letter and in spirit throughout this
school year.
