THE NEED
KISC STUDENTS + STAFF 1987
KISC has had to relocate ve times since it began in 1987. In addition, KISC has almost doubled in size since it moved onto its existing site in 2008. In 2015, Nepal experienced two signi cant earthquakes that brought home the need for earthquake-proof buildings for our students. In 2016, KISC had to vacate its sports site which included: a covered basketball court (also used as an emergency shelter in the earthquake providing protection for over 300 members of the community), the futsal pitch and a parking lot for staff and students.
Since then, our students have had P.E. classes on the roof of the school, which is small and disturbing to classes below. The current KISC property, a converted carpet factory, does
not provide enough space to accommodate both Primary and Secondary schools and administrative of ces, resulting in the organization having to split between two separate sites. The classrooms are small, with barely room to t classes of 22 students and no space for extra activities. We now have to turn away students because we do not have the capacity.
KISC STUDENTS 2017
As of the 2016-17 academic year, KISC has enroled around 110 primary students and 110 secondary students. Our current facilities do not have the space to accomodate the number of students and staff at KISC.
