THE SOLUTION
KISC has taken a 25-year lease from Somang Club (a Nepali NGO). The site is 2.83 acres (11,450 m2) and will provide accommodation for Primary and Secondary classes, support and administration, as well as of ces for EQUIP (Education Quality Improvement Programme), KISC’s Nepali teacher training programme.
The Secondary Block will be a purpose-built, earthquake resistant building whilst the Primary Block, school hall and the administrative of ces will be contained within renovated, existing buildings, that will be retrofitted to provide earthquake-proof accommodations. A current parking bay will also be renovated to provide a covered futsal pitch and an outdoor basketball court will be built. Further facilities within the development will include vehicle parking, covered walkways, earthquake equipment storage, changing rooms, an outdoor amphitheatre and play areas.
The rent paid for the 25-year lease will also be signi cantly lower and the new, larger site will enable KISC to increase its student population from 220 to 300.
The aim is to move to the new site at the end of December 2017 as the leases on our current site expire then. It is vital to have the new building in a suitable state for the move. The builders can deliver the project on time based on the assumption that the funds are available.
THE NEW, LARGER SITE WILL ENABLE KISC TO INCREASE ITS STUDENT POPULATION FROM 220 TO 300 CHILDREN.
