ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Twelve authors have contributed to the making of this book. Their nationali-
ties, ages, interests and careers range widely, and this is clearly reflected in the
variety of the topics and treatments of the essays which they have submitted.
The authors were asked to supply a few paragraphs about their lives,
to inform on their backgrounds and qualifications, and to indicate how they
became involved with the subject of knots. Although a very small sample of
people is involved, the following collection of their replies constitutes a written
contribution on the sociology of the current knotting world. At the very least,
it supplies evidence that such a world exists!
