               suffering.  This  conflict,  which  goes  by  the


               name of neurosis, is the inevitable result of our


               highly developed thought process. This choice


               implies uncertainty, and that's where all our

               problems start.


               Who do you think you are?




                  All  purely  cognitive  approaches  to  self-


               development  –  thinking  yourself  into  a  more


               acceptable  self-concept  –  are,  literally,


               eccentric. Cognitive-based work assumes that


               mind  can  exert  power  over  matter.  This  is


               patently not true.  Mind is certainly the driver


               of  our  existential  machine,  but  matter  -  the


               basic  drives  of  our  flesh  and  blood  -  is


               indisputably the engine. All cognitive so-called


               ‘solutions’  need  constant  external  re-


               affirmation  to  re-inforce  their  polarised,


               ‘mindful’, positive concepts.  But, whatever the


               state of mind of the driver, our negative, dark,


               irrational,  instinctive  and  intuitive  aspects

               represent a powerful source of energy that can
