TRIB Group’s annual Meeting of the Minds held August 29-31 in Las Vegas, with a record attendance of 100 RTO companies, represented by 260 attending members, and 77 vendor companies. The records didn’t stop at attendance. Members were looking for deals and they found them during TRIB’s often copied but never duplicated Hot Show with a record sales volume of $10.5 million in products sold during the ninety- minute event. In addition to their traditional Hot Show, TRIB has added the Hot Show part II – Furniture Treasure Hunt; a new version of their fast paced sales event held during the expo. TRIB’s Furniture Treasure Hunt raked in an additional $2.1 million in product sales. The Expo at the Meeting of the Minds was the largest volume ever in the group’s history.
During TRIB’s meetings, board elections were held for three available seats for the next three-year term. Re-elected to his seat for another term was Ben Bost of SmartWay of the Carolinas. Joining him as newly elected directors were David P. David of Full-O-Pep Appliances d/b/a American Rentals and Mark Williams of Rent One. Leaving the board after choosing not to seek re-election was longtime board member Chris Bolin, along with Ken Schimpf. Chris had served the TRIB Board nine years and held many committee chairs and officer roles, including president during his tenure.
As a part of TRIB’s focus on providing quality programs and networking events for members, they will once again be hosting their Furniture Forum Think Tank in Las Vegas at Winter Market January 23-24, 2017. In its third installment, this Think Tank series keeps growing year after year. “Members understand the importance of networking with their fellow members and vendors in this smaller forum. The Think Tank provides members the chance to have one-on- one conversations with our furniture vendors and get to see all of their products available in their showrooms.” said Dennis Shields, TRIB Group Executive Director.
In addition to the Think Tank, TRIB is also preparing for their next convention, co-located with BrandSource. The Summit, scheduled for March 5-8, 2017, will be held in sunny Florida at the Marriott World Center Orlando. This event is a celebration of the past year where they recognize the top vendors in the group as well as their members’ longevity in the RTO industry.
