How did you get into this industry? I started my career by opening a business at the age of 18. Shortly after, I worked my way into retail management and had much success lead- ing many stores to profitability. I was quickly named the “Turn around manager” and was placed into a position where I could influence hundreds of managers and teach them to apply the same concepts. I have a passion for helping the everyday inde- pendent business owner on how to understand the needs of the market, drive customers through the door, deliver excep- tional customer service through a unique in-store experience and to do it profitably.
Where did you work before BrandSource? Hastings, Sears, Kmart, and Retail Manager Consulting.
What programs/projects are you currently working on if any? Growing the Northwest & Rocky Mountain Regions.
What programs/deals would you like to see the mem- bers take more advantage of and why? By far, the number one program our members need to take advantage of, is our digital marketing program.
As we learned at the Las Vegas Convention, independent dealers need to own the digital domain. It’s a passion of mine to help our members create the same experience online as they do in their store. No matter what size your market, you must own the online presence.
What’s your favorite new consumer electronics, ap- pliance or furniture product out right now? AVB TV is one of the best products on the market for our members. Why? Because it’s a digital salesman that you don’t have to pay an hourly wage for. I have seen store associates pull up the video ad of the dishwasher they’re showing to the customer and it becomes an instant closer!
What’s your favorite movie? Fiddler on the roof.
Favorite TV Series? The Walking Dead.
What do you love most about your job? Helping my mem- bers use programs that add value and profit to their business.
What is your idea of a perfect day off? A fun filled day with my wife and kids going to the lake or on a hike. Anything outdoors.
If you won the Powerball would you show up tomorrow?
No. I would purchase a 30,000 square foot retail location and would become the newest BrandSource member for the Rocky Mountain Region.
What would you say is your biggest accomplishment with BrandSource so far? Being able to successfully help many of our members utilize multiple programs that have turned around their sales for 2016. YS
