Rule 12: Thou Must Become a Leader
Leadership is an art that comes naturally to some, but the rest of us have to work at it.
Chances are, you have to work on your leadership role, too. Reading management
books won’t be enough to bring your projects in on time and within budget. As a project
manager, you must put what you read into action. You need to become a leader as well
as a team member. You must not only plan, track, and control the project, you must also
be a source of wisdom and motivation for the team members and stakeholders. Without
leadership, even a well-coordinated project can fail to meet its goals - the people in the
project won’t feel they have the support or guidance they need to make things happen.
