The CMA CGM Theodore Roosevelt was the largest container ship to ever serve the U.S. East Coast. The 14,414
twenty-foot equivalent container unit vessel made its maiden voyage to the Port of Savannah Sept. 1, 2017. Working
the vessel with seven cranes at the 1,200-acre Garden City Terminal, the Port of Savannah moved 5,000 containers
(approximately 9,000 TEUs) on and off the ship. The GPA worked six other vessels simultaneously.
