ChristianaCare 3T MRI
Owner/User: ChristianaCare
Location: Newark, Delaware
Design Statement: Bernardon was retained to design
improvements to a former shell space at the Christiana
Hospital Imaging Center for installation of a new 3T MRI
magnet and supporting equipment which will be the most
powerful MRI in the ChristianaCare system. The new space
is the first in the region to utilize a creative new customizable
MRI suite sensory environment created by PDC Consulting
which has the ability to customize the MRI room color, sound,
and visual components to the preferences of each patient.
The design team was challenged to maximize the patient
experience of the new suite through the careful coordination
of architectural, structural, MEP, AV, and medical components.
These included architectural finishes, RF and magnetic
shielding, the patient-centered customizable imaging
environment consisting of specialized LED lighting, and
audio/visual equipment, the magnet itself, and the various
electrical and cooling systems dedicated to MRI operations.
