Design Statement: Longwood Fire Company (LFC) has been
serving the communities of Kennett, East Marlborough,
Pennsbury, and Pocopson Townships for over 96 years.
Bernardon is providing design services for the design
of a full service fire protection and emergency medical
service facility of approximately 32,000 square feet. LFC
communicated a strong preference for the beauty of the
Boston Fire Department constructed in 1887 and designed
in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. As a result of
this specific design expectation, Bernardon developed the
design of the Longwood Fire Company to recall the rooted
mass of the referenced precedent while incorporating
modern amenities to encourage more frequent engagement
by its members.
