4) Predicting

Reading is an activity involving constant guesses that are later rejected or
confirmed. This means that one does not read all the sentences in the same way,

but one relies on a number of words – or ‘cues’ – to get an idea of what kind of
sentence (e.g. an example, an explanation) is likely to follow.

Look at these headlines, all taken from the same newspaper, and choose
the sentences that best describe the possible contents of the articles.
