2. Count the number of beads in the tens place,

3. Count the number of beads in the hundreds place,

3 + 2 = 5. Write 5 in the hundreds position.

Steps for vertical addition

1. Add ones, 5 + 3 = 8. Write 8 in the ones place.
2. Add groups of tens, 4 + 2 = 6. Write 6 in the tens

place.
3. Add groups of hundreds, 3 + 2 = 5. Write 5 in the
