A heavy storm in 1995 felled many trees in the Tumwater Falls Park along the Deschutes River; one tree knocked out
half of the walking bridge across the lower falls. The following July, the bridge section was replaced. The truss span
was lifted in by helicopter, and secured to pilings and a concrete abutment. Planking and handrails were then installed.
