The school context

Katlehong Engineering School of Specialisation is a grade 08 to 12 school, situated at the heart
of Katlehong. The school serves learners from variety of ethnic backgrounds. The learner

population is very diverse ranging from family members who have lived in the township for
many years to those who have recently moved to Katlehong from neighbouring provinces and

countries. Assembly is held each Tuesday morning before the lessons commence.

Through the learner-centred curriculum, teachers ensure that learners work to their maximum
potential through quality teaching and learning. Building a community environment is central

to the school philosophy and through professional development, teachers work collaboratively
to develop a well-rounded schooling experience for all learners at Katlehong Engineering

S.O.S. Specialist subjects at school include; Civil technology, Electrical technology, Trade,
Design, Engineering Graphics and Design, Technical Sciences, Technical Mathematics,

Computer Applications Technology and the others. Communication with parents is facilitated

through school newsletters.
