BORNEO
H Rugged Borneo is the 3rd largest island in the world; known for its beaches and its
ancient biodiverse rainforest. Still wild and mysterious, Borneo is one of those places
that’s become synonymous with adventure travel and wildlife.
H Borneo is divided into four political regions; Kalimantan (Indonesian), Sarawak &
Sabah (Malaysian) and Brunei (a sovereign state). Borneo has two distinct populations.
Inland people, called Dayaks, the legendary head-hunters, who are mainly tribal hunter-
gatherers; and the more dominant Malay speaking coastal peoples who developed sea
trade, advanced farming, and fishing; and are predominantly Muslim.
H Home to spectacular wildlife including the Bornean orangutan, the Borneo pygmy
elephant, the proboscis monkey and a huge variety of stunning tropical birds.
H Conquer the peak of the majestic
Mt. Kinabalu (4,095m); explore the
wildlife corridor of the Kinabatan-
gan river and Danum valley; visit
the legendary Iban tribe’s people in
Sarawak.
