Life’s Journey
Travis C. Wallace, Sr. was born July 11, 1979 to Thelma Wallace and
Stanley Jones in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He transitioned from this
earthly life on November 12, 2020 in West Helena, Arkansas.
Travis became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Dundee,
Mississippi under the leadership of Reverend William McMahan. He was
currently serving as a Deacon under the leadership of Reverend
McKinley Daley.
Travis graduated from Gentry High School Class of 1998 in Indianola,
Mississippi in 1998. Travis was full of life and loved cars, enjoyed playing
basketball, working out, and making people laugh. He began his work
life at Hollywood Casino in 1999. He later chose a career in law enforce-
ment, which was his true calling. Travis graduated from the Police Academy
in 2011. Throughout his law enforcement career, he was employed at
the Marvell Police Department (AR), the West Helena Police Department
(AR), Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department (MS), Crittenden County
Sheriff’s Department (AR), Marianna Police Department (AR), as a School
Resource Officer for the Marianna School District (AR), and for the
Arkansas Department of Correction, most recently at the East Arkansas
Regional Corrections Unit in Brickeys as Field Sergeant.
Travis leaves behind his parents, Thelma (Charlie) Watts and Stanley
Jones; one son, Travis “T.J.” Wallace, Jr.; his siblings, Terica Wallace of
Atlanta, Georgia; Tony (LaToya) Wallace of Loganville, Georgia; Antonio
(Shenika) Baker of Southaven, Mississippi; Yolanda Hill of Memphis,
Tennessee, and Charlene Hill of Nashville, Tennessee; his uncle and
mentor, Uless (Shumill) Wallace of Lakeland, Tennessee; John Jones of
Memphis, Tennessee; aunts: Ruby (Willie) Office, Jennifer (Walter)
Gotel, Mayola (Tony) Tuggle, Carla Jones, Jeanette Jones, Marilynn
Miller, Patricia Kirby; one great-great aunt, Mae Bell Moody; great aunts:
Vernon McKinney, Army Anderson, Idella Anderson, Thelma Savage;
great uncles, Earnest Watts and Willie (Ruby) Watts; four nieces,
Shaniece Baker, Lauvern Vaugh, Jessica Hill, and Lalah Hill; four
nephews, Brandon Kidd, Tylan Wallace, Cameron Wallace, and Chayse
Baker; and a host of other beloved family and friends.
