Finally, the team at Eco-Schools Wales would like to celebrate
some of their standout moments from this year.
We were thrilled to be joined by over 300 different schools
across our series of live lessons. We explored
a variety of topics and introduced several
campaigns such as The RSPB’s Big Schools
Birdwatch, Spring Clean Cymru and Plantlife’s
No Mow May, and have loved hearing how
schools have gone on to take action.
These achievements were all possible thanks to the
support, enthusiasm and commitment of all the
UNESCO’S Greening Education Partnership ambition is for 50% dedicated Eco-Coordinators and staff within the
schools we work with. We’d like to say a huge thank
of schools globally to achieve a green accreditation by 2030. you. We can’t wait to work with you again next year!
In Wales we are already doing fantastic progress towards this
global target with over half the schools in Wales - The Eco-Schools Team
having already achieved an Eco-Schools Green
Flag. In fact, Welsh schools should be extremely
proud because, of all the Eco-Schools nations,
we have the highest proportion of schools
awarded with a Green Flag!
We’re proud to share that 73% of schools in Wales actively
took part in ân Eco-Schools or Keep Wales Tidy initiative this
year. This participation includes schools that
received packages through our Local Places for
Nature projects, joined the Spring Clean Cymru
campaign, attended our training and learner
events, or worked hard to achieve or maintain
their Eco-Schools award.
