Historical background,
geographical and natural
features of the city
Regarding the economic trend and focus in Macau, it should not only
develop gambling activities in casinos, but also develop on tourism. These
factors are correlated and acted as an important factor to create a better
city (Guo & Liu, 2009). It indicated self-sufficiency in Macau’s limited
industries were hard to survive and enhanced its competitiveness to raise
up the world status. Furthermore, Macau’s economy cannot merely focus
on the development of gambling, but also tourism. In 2004, the “Self-
guided tour” was adopted to welcome more tourists to have enjoyment
and experience by opening up a port (Wang, 2011). Therefore, a city with
development goal was constructed and promoted to be famous in world
society under the significant and attractive economic development in
Macau.
