Around the world different countries, cities and
states have begun to experiment with various
forms of cannabis regulation.
These reforms have taken different shapes and have been driven by
different concerns, from crime, corruption and effective policy to human
rights. Government savings and tax revenue, as well as the worldwide
growth in the medical cannabis industry, has undoubtedly
contributed to changing attitudes and acceptance of the humble
cannabis plant. If it is safe to provide cannabis to sick children then how
can it really be “the devil’s weed”?

In Uruguay, legalisation is off to a slow and bumpy road with teething
problems in the regulation of home growing and difficulty with the
implementation of government-regulated supply through pharmacies.
In Spain, you can legally buy and smoke weed by being a member of a
registered cannabis club. The Netherlands has had a tolerant approach
to cannabis for decades, allowing small-scale supply and consumption
