The Pet Corner
…Because Pets are People too !!
Bo and Kathy Martin, space 160, rescued Lexi in 2006. The shelter
Meet Lexi estimated her to be about two years old. Lexi and another dog were
owned by a man who passed away. His family dumped the dogs at the
animal shelter. Lexi is a mix of Chihuahua and Pomeranian. However,
people have stopped Bo and Kathy in two different states and said she
looks like she is Papillon. Kathy looked it up and said she looks more like
a Papillon.
They were looking for a dog from a rescue for almost a year when
Kathy finally found Lexi. She and Bo went to the valley to pick her up and
the lady asked Kathy to hold her. Kathy told her she was not ready to
hold her but she would walk her.
She put the leash on her and

The day that they adopted Lexi they had to come back from the valley to
a meeting at the church in Whittier. They didn't have time to take her
home first. One of the pastors opened
the meeting with a prayer and Lexi
started growling at him as he prayed.
She's always been a great traveler. She also enjoys the doggie beach.
Bo and Kathy put their beach chairs side-by-side up a ways from the
water. Lexi would chase off every dog large or small that came within the
boundaries of their chairs all the way down to the water! That is when
they realized she is a very territorial doggie.
Bo and Kathy visited their friends in Oregon who have deer that come and eat in
their backyard. But wild turkeys would eat the deer food so the deer went away.
Their friend sent Lexi outside to scare off the turkeys and she did. She loved
chasing them out of the yard! Soon after they left it was reported that the turkeys
were GONE! Nowhere to be seen for over a year, and the deer came back! Their
friend sent Lexi a little stuffed turkey toy as a thank you gift.
Bo and Kathy say: “Lexi Lou is our sweet baby girl and we have been so
blessed to have her in our lives these 15 years and look forward to many
more years with her.”
