My New Year In Paradise

Finally, the New Year came and I was excited to see

how this was celebrated in Montserrat. The day
began with a parade of different troops. They wore

colorful costumes and danced to loud Soca and

Calypso music. It was a picturesque scene. I could

not resist myself, so I was dancing with them. We

danced our way to Festival Village and then onto a

huge stage.

The different troops such as ‘Matrixx Dancers’ and

‘Dance-in-Motion’ performed dances and acts, they

also displayed their fancy costumes. A folk dance

called masquerade was done by the ‘Emerald Isle

Masqueraders.’
