Duberry Forest
When we approached the forest it was very dense
and the vegetation was lush and green. The trees
towered over me like giants and as the wind blew,
the trees danced as though to the playing of
smooth jazz music.
We started shouting out Charlie’s name and it
echoed throughout the forest.
“Charlie, Charlie!” I shouted until I was hoarse.
“Son, we’re going to have to split up”, my father
said when we arrived at the middle of the forest.
When he told me that I was so scared,
I almost wet myself.
We split up and as the time passed we drifted fur-
ther from each other. I lumbered through the
swampy mud and could hear owls hooting and
other animals screeching in the distance.
The wind got heavier and was sounding like a
pack of wolves, which frightened me.
