47. FAC noted the report from the Appeals Committee and the Committee’s concern that
the Appeals Hearings were held long after the examinations and the potential that Invigilators
or Supervisors might not be able to recall what had occurred during the examination or
provide adequate details at the hearings. FAC recommended that the candidates, Invigilators
and Supervisors should therefore submit comprehensive reports and statements when the
irregularity occurred.
48. FAC enquired when last the regulations were updated and was informed that they
were currently being updated. FAC noted that the updated regulations would include
expanded information on the use of electronic devices in the examination room.
49. FAC accepted the recommendations from the Appeals Committee with the exception
of the proposal to ban all wrist watches from the examinations. It was agreed that research
should be done to determine how other examination boards handled candidates bringing
electronic devices into the examination room and a recommendation provided to FAC.
