Papa

“What’s wrong with him Mama?” Tia asked in
shock.

“He’s sick”, she said as the tears came pouring
from her eyes.

How could he be? How could her Papa be sick?

He was a strong man who could chop down a big
tree! This was the man who looked for bales of
long grass for his cows, goats and sheep with his
bare hands by himself. How could he be so sick
that he lay in bed without any movement?

This had been a shock, her whole world was
crashing down on her.

What kind of summer was she to have?
How come no one told her he had been sick?
What if he died?

Papa died that summer. Things would never be the
same.
