2. Cultural, economic and expressive roles of printmaking:
(a) functions of printmaking in society;
(b) careers; and,
(c) use of Printmaking as expressive and creative outlet.
3. Elements and principles of design:
(a) elements: dot, lines, shape, colour, texture, form, space, and value;
(b) principles: movement, contrast, balance, rhythm, repetition, unity/variety, pattern,
proportion, and emphasis; and,
(c) layout and composition.
4. Pictorial Images:
(a) prints from given topics and themes; and,
(b) use transfer methods to apply image to print media.
5. Health and safety procedures:
(a) appropriate selection of tools and equipment;
(b) safe use of tools and equipment; and,
(c) personal and protective equipment.
6–8. Transferring images:
(a) image transfer to plates and blocks using a range of methods;
(b) making plates, blocks and silkscreens;
(c) materials: traditional or non-traditional (experimental) materials; and,
(d) use traditional and non-traditional materials to create blocks and plates and resin
substances/chemicals for stencil making. For example, wood, plastics, linoleum,
copper, zinc, resins, sprays.
