Suggested Teaching and Learning Activities
To facilitate students’ attainment of the objectives of this Module, teachers are advised to engage
students in the teaching and learning activities listed below.
1. Arrange visits to industrial plants and view video materials.
2. Invite personnel from environmental groups (Non-Governmental Organisations, Community
Based Organisations) and the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) in their territories
to be guest lecturers on environmental issues.
3. Have students collect newspaper articles and journal articles and conduct web-based searches
on issues relating to industry and environment (include in the study the benefits of Green
Chemistry). Engage in discussion on the main issues of the article collected.
4. Conduct class discussions and debates on the social and economic issues that arise from
degradation of the environment.
5. Have students do a survey on community awareness about environmental issues.
