A cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Byron Keith Ellis was raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. He received his medical training at Washington University in St. Louis and completed his medical residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he was named Chief Resident. Dr. Ellis went on to pursue general cardiology fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He received further interventional cardiology fellowship training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.

Cardiology, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology, Dr. Ellis has been practicing cardiology for the past 15 years. He has published scientific papers and has authored book chapters, and he currently serves as the medical director of cardiovascular diseases at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. Dr. Ellis enjoys caring for patients with complex cardiovascular diseases and risk factors. He believes every person has a right to receive world class medical care. To that end, he participates in various local health fairs to expand healthcare delivery into the community.
Dr. Ellis has been married for 20 years to his lovely wife, Tonya Ellis, an accomplished author of the nine-volume Sophie Washington children’s book series. They are parents of three teens, Sophia, 18, Byron, 16, and Justin, 14. The family lives in Missouri City and are active members at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.
