Derek D. Woods is a proud member of Ever Ready Lodge #506 serving as a Past Master. Derek is also a member of Sunrise Chapter #77 Holy Royal Arch Masons and Goodwill Consistory #238.
Derek D. Woods is a native of Bay City, Texas. Born September 13th to Alyouse (Deceased) and Cora Woods. Alyouse Woods Sr was a proud member of the United States Army and his service led Derek to resided in several locations landing in him Neosho, Missouri.
Derek was raised in Neosho, Missouri, graduating from Neosho
High in 1992. Derek excelled in sports and earned a full scholarship
to Emporia State University in Kansas to play football and run track.
Derek Woods earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1997.
Eighteen years later he continued his education by seeking to
obtain his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management. Derek completed his master’s degree from DeVry University in 2015 earning a master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Management.
Derek has always had a passion and or a strong desire to help people. A career path in healthcare was the right path for Derek starting his professional career in 1998 in Manvel Texas at Day Star Treatment center as a Facility youth leader. Derek continued his professional career for the next fifteen years at West Oaks Hospital serving as a Floor coordinator manager, Intake coordinator supervisor, Intake Manager and the Director of Intake. Served as the Director of Marketing for Oceans Behavioral Hospital for 4 years and currently serves as the Regional Director of Admissions for Kindred Healthcare.
Derek Woods is a member of The Church Without Walls under the leadership of Dr. Ralph Douglas West. Derek enjoys speaking to adolescents and young adults when he comes in contact with them through his healthcare field. Giving them words of encouragement, motivation, and information about the various aspects and career opportunities available to them. Volunteering is also important to Derek, volunteering for the Houston Food Bank and for Klein ISD.
Derek is married to his lovely wife of seven years, Janelle Woods. They have two children, Derek and Dylan Woods. In his spare time, you can find Derek in Galveston or Matagorda fishing, he also enjoys all other sports and outdoor activities.
