GOVERNMENT EXPERIMENTAL CENTRE, BUDEYA
The policy of the Department in the past year has been based on the improvement in the
productivity of the land and livestock on the Island.
Aspects which have received attention arc as follows :
1. Encouragement to farmers by the free issue of seed of good quality.
2. Assistance by means of mechanization in initial cultivation.
3. Assistance with regard to crop protection.
4. The introduction and trial of crops of various types.
5. The introduction of pedigree livestock, selective breeding and the improvement of local
cattle.
6. The establishment of an extensive nursery.
7. The introduction and trial of various types of artificial manures.
