TILE MAIN FEATURES FOR THE ADVANCE OF HEALTH
Present Position.
The central services are operated from Manama, in the way of Hospitals, specialised
departments and public health, including Quarantine and Port Health.
Muharraq is a subsidiary residential health centre.
Maternity work is prominent in Manama and Muharraq.
Village health is run on an itinerary basis from Manama and Rifa’a, where a doctor is
in residence.
All main epidemics have been eliminated. Only trachoma, dysentery and malaria are
endemic, and the latter is of a low incidence well under control.
Expansion and New Methods
The Manama services will be doubled in the next four years, with prominence given to
Pulmonary T.B. and maternity.
Muharraq will have more residential doctors, and further schemes there are under
consideration.
The administrative staff will be again augmented, and eye and chest specialists appointed.
Recruiting will be promoted from the Middle East, and a Training School for nurses is
under discussion.
A combined Public Health municipal scheme is under discussion.
