School Programme. The following changes took place in the school programme:—
(1) Two periods of Elementary science were added to the programme of classes three and
four.
(2) Three periods a week of Elementary Algebra and Geometry were added to the pro
gramme of classes three and four.
(3) Two periods a week of Workshop theory were added to the practical programme of
classes one, two, three and four.
Staff.
(1) The teacher of Electricity was dismissed in February, 1955, for unsatisfactory service.
(2) The English teacher resigned and was replaced by another teacher from Jordan.
(3) Arrangement was made with the Director of Education to provide Science and Mathe
matic teachers from the Secondary School to fill in the new Science and Algebra periods which
were added to the school programme.
Workshop and Equipment. The following new equipment was received during 1955:—
(1) One universal Milling Machine with accessories.
(2) Two Marking-out and Inspcc^ ion tables.
(3) One oil-fired Furnace for the foundry section.
New tools and equipment for the Electric shop and garage sections will be purchased
locally during 1956, also the necessary tools and equipment for the new Foundry section will
be ordered during 1956.
Graduates. No students graduated during 1955, because all the students of class three
left the school in 1953 to get jobs in Saudi Arabia. Class four was therefore eliminated during
1954.
Activities. Students of class throe and four spent one day visiting the Bahrain Petroleum
Company’s oil fields and workshops. Arrangements were made to have a cinema show in the
school twice a month, most of the films shown are of great interest to the students, specially the
Technical films given on loan from Bapco training division.
Exhibition. No Exhibition was held during 1955. Arrangement was made and approved
by Adviser, to have the school Exhibition every other year in the Technical School building,
instead of having it with the girls’ schools exhibition. This should enable the Bahrain people
and students’ parents to see the school workshops, and the new equipment.
Health. The school doctor visited the school as usual once a week, and the general
health of the students was satisfactory; attendance was good during the year.
Suggestion for next year.
(1) The School should be equipped with a complete Laboratory for chemistry and physics.
(2) Football and Basketball grounds are needed for the school.
(3) Four more rooms are needed, one to be used as a Laboratory, the second as a teachers
room and the third as a special class for Drawing which is to be provided with special drawing
tables, and the fourth one to be used as a lecture room, and for cinema shows, etc.
(4) The following staff will be needed for the next school year:—
(a) One Mathematics and Science teacher to replace the two part time teachers from
the Secondary School.
(b) One teacher for the new machine shop.
(c) One teacher for the new Electric shop.
(d) One teacher for the new Foundry Section.
(e) One teacher for the new Molor Engineering Section.
Ismail Kurdi, a Technical School pupil, who is undergoing training in England in electrical
work with the firm of Siemens continued to make good progress. It is intended that he should*
on his return to Bahrain, take over a teaching post in the school.
